If you have a MacBook and an Apple Watch, you can use your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac machine. This lets you easily get into your Mac without having to enter the user password. We show how to set this feature up and how to use it on your devices in this guide.
With an Apple Watch, you can enter your Mac computer without typing in the password. Your Apple Watch could recognize your identity and lets you log-in to your Mac automatically. This eliminates the need to remember and enter your Mac user account password. Your Apple Watch will act as a password for your machine.
The Requirements You Need
Before you can use your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac, you need to make sure your devices are compatible with the Auto Unlock feature. Not all the Apple devices out there can use this feature and you need to ensure the devices you have are the compatible ones to use the feature.
An Apple Watch Compatibility with Auto Unlock
Unable to unlock MacBook Pro with Apple watch I don't see the in System Preferences -Security & Privacy - 'Allow your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac.' The screen is just as it was before Sierra. Make sure that your devices are set up as follows: Your Mac has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. Your Mac and Apple Watch are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID, and your Apple ID is using two-factor authentication. Your Apple Watch is using a passcode.
To use the Auto Unlock feature, your Apple Watch must be one of the following:
Apple Watch (1st generation)/Apple Watch Series 1/Apple Watch Series 2/Apple Watch Series 3/Apple Watch Series 4/Apple Watch Series 5
In addition to that, your Apple Watch must be running watchOS 3 or later.
A MacBook Compatibility with Auto Unlock
In order to unlock your Mac with an Apple Watch, your Mac machine must be one of the following:

If yours is a really old Mac and is not one of the mentioned above, then unfortunately it cannot be used with the Auto Unlock feature. Also, you must be running macOS Sierra or later to use the Auto Unlock feature.
An iCloud Account
It is mandatory that both your Apple Watch and MacBook use the same iCloud account to use your Watch to unlock your Mac. This way the devices will know it is the same user trying to access the MacBook. If you do not already use the same account on both your devices, you can simply go to the Settings app and change your current iCloud account.
Set up Auto Unlock
Setting up Auto Unlock is pretty easy as everything that needs to be done is on your Mac. There is nothing that you need to configure on your Apple Watch to be able to use your Watch to unlock your Mac. When you pair your Apple Watch with your Mac, an option gets added to the Mac allowing you to use your Watch to unlock the machine.
Procedure 1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication
